I like these photos. They brought back memories of 1972-74 when we use to hike those trails with my parents. I am reading a book by Frank Welsh, ” A borrowed Place ” (The history of Hong Kong). It describes the conflict that was started with British importation of opium and much of the initial conflict took place around the Pearl river delta just to the west of your current location. The island of Lintin is such a place and it is just west of Nanshan and I think you should be able to see it in a clear day. Look it up on the map. I will bring the book to you as you may be interested.
You found it. Thanks!
Aww, the pictures are so wonderful!! I love them!

Ferry to link Shekou, Inner Lingding Island
SCHEDULED passenger ferries will be put into operation before the end of the year between Shekou and Inner Lingding Island, a wildlife reserve near to Hong Kong’s Yuen Long, according to Zhang Shiming, director with the city’s transportation commission.
The journey will take around half an hour from Shekou to the island. Before Shenzhen was granted jurisdiction over the island, there were only non-scheduled ferries between the two destinations, according to Chen Yimin, general manager of Shenzhen Pengxing Ferry Co.
Lintin island and Inner Lingding island, I believe, are two different names of the same thing. Here is something I find on the Internet.
