So, you got your homework in your mailbox? That sounds fun, though I haven't even thought of that.

I can relate, my dad gets tons of those. When I was a kid the covers fooled me too. Such pretty pictures, then pages and pages and pages of nothing but words. I haven't tried reading one recently, it might go slightly better than when I was five. The only article I ever read fully from one of those was a few years ago in the Lancet, there was an article about Shakespeare, go figure. :)

I totally thought one of my patients on internal medicine had a heliotrope rash. Turned out just to be an allergic reaction.

I really like that you didn't make its state obvious, and I didn't get it until more than halfway through, when you mention the guy with the headphones. Very unreal. Well done!

So Andrew, is this the novel you have been writing since you were in Shenzhen? I haven't had time to read it completely, but I'm sure that it'll be a good novel(if it is a novel, haha)

thanks dude! i actually really did have this dream this morning, before a gross anatomy practical exam. a few hours ago it all came back to super vivid and i was sick of cramming, so i took a break to write it out.

cool concept Andrew!

As I read this, it played out in my mind as some kind of creepy, jerky-movement claymation, a la The Nightmare Before Christmas. Especially when your buddy detachedly dissects himself... surreal.
