I did see that you stated it in bold form though I thought it was your words.
I am almost done with the book and found this book very thorough and non-biased. Most objective book on the issue of China.

Dad might disagree with me, but I think Jacques has the best way of perceiving it that I've encountered so far. It's there in the first blockquote, and also can be read in the interview link.

Great writing! Love to read it. I guess anybody interested in reading your blog would probably be interested in a lot of other interesting things outside the U.S. The book you mentioned actually states that the main difference between China and other counties lies in the fact that China does not see itself as a nation state, rather a civilization state. For clarification of that statement, I would refer you to read his actual book.

I really appreciate your ruminations.
How do you figure in China's issue with the Uyghurs and Tibetans into your framework?

It's okay. If I can accept $60 worth of 红包 from random ppl I've known for less than 24 hours, you can take it from (almost) family. =P

Really? Dang, another place to go visit and do an informal ethnography, haha. Chocolate money is fun to collect, although I have to admit that none of it has ever been in possession um, long enough to start such a project.

Hope you have some time off! Enjoy those Olympics.
